Potlatch ceremony is a gift-giving feast system that is practiced ion Nthe northwest Ccoast of North America. This ceremony is basically held on the occasion of births, deaths, weeddings, and other major events, and mostly during winters. Traditionally, Potlatch is celebrated by singing a series of songs, dances and rituals. The main purpose of the ceremony is the redistribution of wealth produced by the family. The number of people or the size of gathering symbolizes the social status of the host, and the type of gifts depends on the status of the recipient.
