As a parent, with children that have taken both online and Brick-and-Mortar high school classes, I can tell you that there are several comparing and contrasting factors. The first factor that I would like to bring up is the atmosphere. In your traditional Brick-and-Mortar classrooms the atmosphere can be tainted by outside interference. Students can become pressured by their peers, teachers/coaches, and other world concerns. Students can become a target for bullies, predators and drug dealers. However, with an online atmosphere, those issues are limited, but not eliminated. Homeschooled students’ atmosphereatmospheres can become tainted by the before mentionabovementioned list and/or lack of self-motivation, self-confidence, and depression. Both atmospheres dependsdepend solely on the type of student that you are dealing with. If you are dealing with a student with a strong willpower to succeed then almost any situation may suit them.
