Love is one of the most significant forces in nature and although sometimes it can lead to a positive outcome, often love takes away an individual’s control of their actions and emotions. This statement is prominent in William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, where two star-crossed lovers suffer their tragic death because of the irreversible actions they do for love. Shakespeare shows that once Juliet is influenced by the power of love, she experiences a change in character that ultimately leads to her tragic death. Love, a powerful and dominant force in nature, can blind one’s rationality, overpowering their previous values and obligations, thus leading them to tragedy. The power of Juliet’s love of Romeo causecauses her cautious nature to become impulsive, her loyalty to her parents to become loyaltransform into loyalty to Romeo, and her decision-making based on logic to become based on passion.
