McKenzie just turned 12, left elementary school, and started secondary education in one of the best schools ofin the district. McKenzieShe was a lone child of Mr. and Mrs. Alan Grant, and wants to become an astronaut. Her father is a steel smelter, and her mother works in a publishing company. Both have a dream to make their daughter a brilliant star.

The starting days in the new school were doable. McKenzie didn’t have any friends at this school. She shared some space and time, in class and at lunch hour with few girls. She adapted to the new school very quickly, and enthusiastically participated in the classroom. TeachersThe teachers and her peers arewere very much inspired withby her knowledge and thoughtful nature; except a group of four girls. These girls turned against her without any reason since day one, and bullied her in several ways. McKenzie couldn’t understand why these four girls dubbedcalled her by mean names, whispering and laughing at her, and passing disrespectful comments.

McKenzie thought again and again, what’s"What’s wrong with these girls, and why they are bullying, me?" but didn’tshe couldn't figure it out. She assumed that soon it would stop and things willwould become normal, hence; thus, she didn’t speak about the bullying with her teachers or parents. BUTBut the bullying increased day after day, and gradually she came in a situationto the stage where her sense of self-worth was low and several negative thoughts turned her into “Prey.”prey.

It was as a pleasant morning but for McKenzie, it was a stormy day. Today she
was assaulted again,; not only by words, but also physically by those girls. McKenzie was stunned: tears ran down her cheeks as she made her way to the cloakroom. Once inside, she closed the door and began to sob uncontrollably. She was tired of being called a “nerd” and a “jerk”.
