To continue practicing English outside theof school, I do different things:
The first thing I do: I subscribed to an English-language newspaper.
It’s “The Times and the Sunday Times”. It's, a British online newspaper. So it's the same vocabulary that we learn in school.
There are many different newspaper articles, fashions, policies, news around the world, …etc.
Once a week, I choose a newspaper article that interests me and I read it.
TheI look up the vocabulary I don’t understand, I look it up in the dictionary and I write it in a little notebook. That way, I don't forget it.
When I was studiedstudying in Saint-Louis, my German translation teacher advised us to do this exercise. And for me, it’s an excellent exercise because it’s important to be curious when we study languages.
Another thing I do and that frequently is watch movies and series in English. A lot of people do that.
When I watch a movie, I put the subtitles in French, but I listen in English and it’s a good thing. It's important because you hear the right accent.
And moreover, we make connections with the vocabulary when we hear it and read it at the same time.
I watch movies or series at least three times a week.
A third thing I do: I read a lot of books.
A few months ago, I bought three books in English and two bilingual books.
I do the same thing I do for the newspaper. I write the vocabulary I don’t know in a notebook.
For the English books, I bought a book that I had already read in French and two that I don't know. With bilingual books, it’s easy to make connections.
I read a little bit every day.
