In my past business, I managed a project for one of my customers, and I was so keen to please them that I told them we could complete the project within 1 weeksone week. I thought it was simple, but it took 3three weeks and they weren't pleased with their expectations. I discovered that my clientclient's estimate should have been more conservative. I realized that if you know the timeline in advance, a client won't get upset, but if you promise something and don't deliver, they'llhe/she will be disappointed. I took this knowledge and used it to manage customer expectations much better during projects I supervisesupervised. For instance, on the next project with another client, I informed them that it would take 3three weeks, and we completed in 2it in two. They were very pleased about it.
