The ever-growing Indian cinema industry, Bollywood, has become one of the largest film industries in the world. Multifaceted topics makesmake it popular in the Middle East, and Asia, particularly in Pakistan and the Pakistani diasporasdiaspora living all over the world. Kashmir being a chronic conflict between Pakistan and India is subject to many Indian movies. These movies give a conflicting version of Kashmiri &and Indian Muslims as “Internal“internal others” and Pakistani Muslims as “external others” (Bedi, 2016), and try to develop an on-screen synergetic relationship between Islam, Pakistan and Kashmir.
Interestingly the protagonists or main characters in these films are presented as Muslims. Based on misinformed reality these movies are far from ground truths
whereas the United NationNations and human rights organizations are providing an opposite picture, and accusing India of unremitting human rights violations in Indian held Kashmir. And also, that the population of Indian administrated Kashmir continues to be deprived of a wide range of human rights . Similarly, the cinematic stereotypical and dualistic presentation creates distance and haterhaters among both the countries and perturbancesperturbance in the Muslim diasporasdiaspora around the world. Depiction of a binary between “Us and Them” and representing “other” as violent and extremist makes it more difficult for the viewers to form a positive opinion about “them” . Hence producing anti-Islam, anti-Pakistan, and anti-Kashmir narratives. keeping in view thisKeeping this in mind, the present research is based on the movies where such kind ofa binary has been depicted, two movies as the moviesthat were very popular about the Kashmir issue are taken. The research is empirical in nature, as no empirical research has been available in which Kashmir has been studied as an independent conflict in the perspective of Peace War journalism. This study will provide quantitative findingfindings which would be useful in the resolution of the conflict.
