In science, my class and I are working on a project onthat involves solving a problem in our community. And forFor my problem, I thought of creating a composting system at school. How this system would work is we would create a station in the cafeteria and in the court yard. After lunch, 2 volunteers will grab the food waste and bring them to the compost pile. They will layer the food and then add a layer of mulch and various leaves and sticks. The next week, two new volunteers will be in charge, and the volunteers from the week before will teach the new people how the system works. When the compost pile is finished processing the food waste, we would use the organic matter to help our plants grow. We could also use the system to help teach young kids about composting. We would have this composting system to do our part to not contribute to global warming. When food rots it releases methane and carbon dioxide, which has a huge impact on global warming. We could help the environment by helping the trees grow with the organic matter, and it will help contribute to us cleaning the air and filtering the carbon dioxide.
