Environmental Literacy can be defined as an individual’s mindfulness and knowledge of natural issues. In this case, one may utilize skill and motivation to form choices that not only benefit the people and community, but the natural environment as well. By driving oneself to be conscious of their surroundings and influence within society, personal knowledge and understanding of the world we live in areis constantly growing. With future generations in mind, an environmental literalist may find themselves making decisions thatof which effects go far beyond the local environment. Environmental literacy cannot be defined as one specific thing or idea. Yet, Environmental Literacyenvironmental literacy is made up of an individual’s personal understanding of his or her relationship to the world we live in. Environmental Literacyliteracy is not something that can be taught. It is through experience and action that one may learn how to make decisions that not only benefit themselves and others, but the environment as well.
