Every person has a troubled heart at some point in their lives, whether it’s a specific hour, day, or time. It’sFor some people, it’s similar to heartburn for some people, whichthat never seems to go away, no matter what they do. When our hearts are upset, we rarely know what to do. We start to be concerned and stressed about stuff. Our hearts often encourage us to prioritize ourselves over others, to be lazy, unkind, and even to sleep more. Fulfilling the heart’s yearning will never satisfy it. It’s always looking for more.
One of my dear friends informed me that he did not follow his heart through his school years. I inquired as to what he meant. He told me that his heart wanted him to do everything he wanted, including smoking, using drugs, having sex, being lazy, and putting himself first
. But, but he ignored it, and as a result, he never got into trouble or made any friends. However, later in his late twenties, he became fed up and began following his heart and doing what it desiresdesired, because he felt empty, like he was missing out on life.
He explained that he had to learn his lesson the hard way. If you follow your heart, you will still be disappointed
, since you will not be ableunable to obtain what you desire. He realized it was against God’s will for him to follow his heart so fervently. Despite this, he went ahead and did it. Do you know what he said when he finished telling me this? He said, “We can only follow our hearts when our heart become alignbecomes aligned with God’s will.” (Those are some powerful words)words.) He stated that it may be difficult at first, but think about it with your head, rather than your heart, because your heart knows things that your brain does not.
