The Representation of Noah’s Ark
Catholics believe that humans have the ability to
either choose to do either good or evil. Consequently, humans seem to do wrong, but with the help of God, they can choose to do good. Before the flood destroyed the world, there had been a rampantrampage of human wickedness and destruction. God, wanting to replenish the population and keep the good people on earth, had in return had sent a flood to destroy the bad and plenishreplenish the good. The Biblicalbiblical story “Noah’s Ark” has been seen to represent rebirth and replenishment, depicting a flood that came about on the earth thatand destroyed and killed all evil while restoring the good. Since Noah and his family were seen as good people, God instructed him to build an ark in which he must bring a female and male animal to replenish the stocks that willwould be lost in the flood. According to this narrative, the family of Noah, who survived the flood, had been the reason why the human race descended and continued living. Throughout the writings, people tend to make rash decisions that can lead to bad consequences. People are advised to think carefully before acting carelessly because this can lead to a miserable life.
