Tattoos and piercings have become more and more common and accepted within our society, but it still holds the same sigma it has always hashad in the workplace, therefore making its integration far from a complete success.

Even though tattoos and piercings are considered a way to express oneself
, it can and does link back to the perception of professionalism in a negative way. There are many reasons as to why wearing a tattoo or getting a piercingspiercing tends to make one look less professional in society’s eyes. The three main reasons are: Society these days is extremely judgemental. Even though judging someone by their ‘cover’ (physical appearance) is far from right and ethical, it’s how life is. And society’s overall perception on tattoos and piercings is negative, claiming it to be unprofessional, especially in a workplace. The second reason is the tattoo/piercing itself. Regrets will forge as we all grow into and out of phases. Eventually, eventually causing an interest we once had to be but an immature phase in life. Getting that specific tattoo/piercing could very well just be a phase in that moment, a phase in whichthat will be outgrown. The third and final reason is the stereotyping pretence that tattoos presentspresent us with.
